  • Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was India's first engineer and was appointed as the Assistant Engineer in the Department of Public Works in the government of Bombay.
  • Whereas A Laita was the first female Electrical Engineer of India and also the first female student of the College of Engineering in Chennai.
  • It is recorded that Imhotep was the world's first-ever civil engineer. He developed the concept of pyramids and the style of step pyramid at Saqqara known as the Pyramid of Djoser goes way back to 2611 BC
  • The highest salaried branch in engineering is Petroleum Engineering not just in India but also around the globe. Next to petroleum engineering comes chemical engineering.
  • The easiest branch of engineering in Computer Science and Information Technology and the toughest branch of engineering is Mechanical Engineering. Lastly, the oldest branch of engineering is civil engineering.
