Bachelor of Pharmacy or B. Pharm. is an undergraduate academic degree course in the pharmacy field. The duration of this course is 4 years (8 semesters). The Bachelor of Pharmacy degree is the basic requirement for anyone interested for registration to practice as a pharmacist in almost many countries. Recently the Pharmacy programme in India has undergone enormous changes to meet the requirements of the ever-growing pharmaceutical industries and to keep up with the changing community health practices at large in the nation. The course is thus designed to serve the current and future needs of the health sector from pharmaceutical point of view. Common subjects included in this course are Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacognosy, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy, Medicinal Chemistry, Jurisprudence (study of Ethical and legal practicing), Pharmaceutical management etc. The Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) course enables the students to understand the properties and impacts of drugs of the living brings, as well as the skills required to counsel the patients regarding the safe use of medicines while administering process. After completion of this course one can play the roles as Industrial Pharmacist in the various departments like Manufacturing, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Packaging etc., Hospital and Community Pharmacist (Dispensing the medicines and counseling the patients), Marketing, Sales & Distribution Executives, Academic Pharmacist, Drug safety Associates and Drug Inspector. B. Pharm graduate can pursue Post-graduation studies in various Subjects like Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy , Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis etc. and build the career in Academics, Research and development and regulatory affairs.
Minimum 17 Years of age on December 31 of year of admission
Candidates who want to pursue the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme have to fulfill the given eligibility criteria
· Candidates must be at least 17 years of age at time of admission.
· For admission into the B.Pharm course one must have passed 10+2 examination or an equivalent examination of any approved board or university with not less than 45% marks in any combination comprising Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
· students, those who completed the two year Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) courses are also eligible for Bachelor of Pharmacy
Note: If a candidate wants to get admitted into the 2nd year of B.Pharm (Lateral entry), one must have passed D.Pharm from a PCI approved institute.
