Master of performing arts is a postgraduate degree in acting, dance, and drama. It is particularly suited for students with a bachelor's degree in performing arts or related subjects with specialization. MPA degree course is an advanced study of the different performing art form. In this course, students are taught subjects like contemporary drama and dance, media relations, acting theory and radius social movement studies, production design, camera acting and direction, script analysis, marketing, etc. It also provides a deep insight into two regional theatre forms and different creative applications.
Subjects taught in master of performing arts courses are acting, stagecraft, literature, and history of Indian television, literature in the history of theatre, theatre personality and involvement. Aspiring students required to have a bachelor's degree with at least 40% aggregate from a recognized University/college of the country. It is compulsory to have at least 2 years of stage experience for pursuing masters of performing arts.
