Science can be defined as a systematic study and investigation of natural phenomena and occurrences by way of observation, theoretical explanation as well as experimentation. A scientific study of any phenomena involves careful observation, formulation of hypotheses, conducting experiments to test and prove the hypotheses and henceforth drawing conclusions that confirm or deny the hypothetical assumption. Such scientific studies help in the formulation of universal laws that help humans to know more about the world we live in and how various natural processes and phenomena occur.

Science is a vast field and concerns almost everything that our eyes can see or cannot see. Everything in the universe can be studied under the field of science.

There was an incredible response received from the youth of the State of Arunachal Pradesh when the University conducted the first INSPIRE Programme for the candidates aspiring to pursue their career in the field of Science. At present the University is offering Bachelor of Science and Master of Science under the Faculty of Science. The science students have the advantage of gaining employment in Pharma sector, which is a high growth sector.

The students pursuing their academics in Science can opt various career options available in fields such as Defense, Para-military, Nursing, Teaching, Information Technology, Engineering, Medical Science, Bio-Informatics, Pharmacy etc.

Zoology as a distinct course of pursuit by any student at Arunachal University of Studies falls under the control and proper authority of the Faculty of Science. In definition, zoology is an extension of biology wherein the focus of everything directs toward the animal kingdom under the widest possible considerations at large. The most consequential aspects about the M.Sc. in Zoology has directed its basis upon classification, structure, evolution, natural behaviors and actions, embryology etc. Through the utilization of proper literature, as well as advanced options for performing research, it becomes evident that this field has a lot of opportunities for future zoologists. These professionals shall inherently work across a wide availability of opportunities to actually contribute toward the animal kingdom with both existing and extinct species under consideration.

The course specifically comprises of a duration that extends for two years, and the composition generally happens across the number of semesters totaling 4 in number. The students pursing the field shall inimitably receive learning opportunities across anatomy, physiology and other aspects wholly encapsulating biologic sphere of different animal groups and species at large. It shall also comprise of development fields like biochemistry, immunology, genetics and evolution, cell and molecular biology, molecular endocrinology, genomics, biostatics, ecological perspectives, entomology, as well as various practically applicative instances at large. Upon the completion of this course, the students could effectively answer and provide effective and accurate information across almost all kinds of occurrences with animals.

There are also several prospective practicalities as well because the Arunachal University of Studies exceptionally tackle various practical elements for the course as well. This is made possible through the state-of-the-art technology afforded to the students who could then attain how the practical and theoretical coalesce with one another. Furthermore, attainment of expertise shall inimitably employ necessary knowledge and development outcomes to actual real life settings.

Career Path :-

Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Zoology can open up various career opportunities in both research and applied fields related to the study of animals and their behaviors. Zoology is a broad and interdisciplinary field, so the career options can vary depending on your specialization and interests within the field. Here are some potential career paths you could pursue with a Master's degree in Zoology:

Research Scientist: With an MSc in Zoology, you can work as a research scientist in academic institutions, government agencies, or private research organizations. You could conduct research on various aspects of animal biology, behavior, evolution, ecology, and conservation.

Wildlife Biologist/Conservation Scientist: Zoologists play a crucial role in studying and conserving wildlife populations and their habitats. You could work for government agencies, non-profit organizations, or consulting firms to assess wildlife populations, develop conservation strategies, and monitor ecosystem health.

Zoo Curator/Career Manager: Zoos and aquariums hire professionals with expertise in zoology to manage animal collections, design exhibits, and ensure the well-being of the animals in their care.

Environmental Consultant: Your knowledge of zoology can be valuable in environmental consulting firms. You might be involved in assessing the impact of development projects on local ecosystems, conducting environmental impact assessments, and recommending mitigation measures.

Educator/Professor: If you have a passion for teaching, you could pursue a career as an educator, teaching zoology at high schools, colleges, or universities. A Master's degree might be sufficient for teaching at the community college level, while a PhD might be required for university-level positions.

Science Communication: Zoologists with strong communication skills can work as science writers, journalists, or outreach coordinators. You could help bridge the gap between scientific research and the general public by translating complex concepts into accessible content.

Geneticist: With advancements in genetic research, zoologists can specialize in genetics and genomics, studying the genetic makeup and evolution of different animal species. This can lead to roles in medical research, biotechnology, or conservation genetics.

Biomedical Research: Some zoologists with a focus on physiology or anatomy may work in biomedical research, studying animal models to gain insights into human health and disease.

Aquatic Scientist/Marine Biologist: If you're interested in marine life, you could work on studying ocean ecosystems, marine conservation, and the impact of climate change on marine organisms.

Animal Behaviorist: Studying animal behavior can lead to careers in understanding and modifying behavior for applications such as animal training, pet behavior consultation, and working with service animals.

Government Regulatory Agencies: Zoologists can work for government agencies responsible for natural resource management, environmental protection, and wildlife regulation.

Park Ranger/Naturalist: If you enjoy working outdoors, you might consider becoming a park ranger or naturalist, where you can educate the public about local flora and fauna, lead nature tours, and contribute to conservation efforts.

Remember, the specific career path you choose will depend on your interests, skills, and the specialization you pursued within your MSc program. It's also worth considering further education, such as a Ph.D., if you're interested in pursuing more advanced research or academic positions.
