Namsai, 31st May, 2024: The World Environment Day, 2024 was celebrated at Arunachal University of Studies, Namsai on 31st May, 2024. The event was organized by ICFRE – Rain Forest Research Institute, Jorhat in association with Arunachal University of Studies, Namsai with the theme of “Land Restoration, Drought Resilience, Preventing Desertification”. The event started with the welcome address by Dr. Prosanata Hazarika, CTO, ICFRE-RFRI, Jorhat followed by a plantation program
within the AUS campus. On the occasion Mr. Anshuman Patel, Scientist – B, ICFRE-RFRI, Jorhat, delivered a lecture on ‘Land degradation and Restoration’ to sensitize the audience about the seriousness of the matter. The event included extempore speech, drawing competition and poster presentation competition for the students. A documentary on ‘ICFRE-RFRI Technology for Coal Mined Land Restoration’ was also shown to the participants.
Dr. D. J. Das, Scientist-F, ICFRE-RFRI, Jorhat, Dr. Nitin Kulkarni, Director, ICFRE-RFRI, Jorhat, Prof. Ajith Kumar K., Vice-Chancellor (in-charge), AUS, also spoke on the occasion. The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony for winners. Dr. Md. Juned K. Ahmed, Dean (in-charge), Faculty of Science & Technology, AUS, delivered vote of thanks.
